Matthew Algie Officially Renews Climate Neutral Now Pledge
June 11th, 2021 | Business News
As part of our commitment to sustainability and environmental issues, we have made it a priority to take proactive action to address the effects of climate change.
Climate change is affecting coffee production all around the world. In fact, recent research suggests that Arabica coffee could be even more adversely affected by the effects of climate change than first thought. This is due to the very specific conditions it needs to grow, coupled with its narrow genetic diversity. Arabica makes up over 70% of the global coffee market, so the potential consequences on coffee production are clear to see.
One of our commitments has been to participate in the Climate Neutral Now Initiative. Launched in 2015, Climate Neutral Now aims to support and encourage all levels of society to act to achieve a carbon neutral world by the 2050, as set out in the Paris Agreement.
We are pleased to announce that we have officially renewed our pledge, confirmed by the UN Climate team.
The pledge is a statement of our ongoing commitment to measure our greenhouse gas emissions, to reduce and offset them, and to report back annually to the initiative. The aim is that the coverage of the pledge will increase over time and real climate neutrality is achieved.
By addressing our carbon footprint now, we contribute to creating a healthier future for us all.
Our journey is ongoing and we will continue report back on this and all of our sustainability initiatives. You can read our latest report here.
