The World of Coffee 2024: Celebrating Coffee Culture and Innovation

The vibrant city of Copenhagen became the epicentre of coffee culture as it welcomed enthusiasts and professionals from around the globe to the highly anticipated World of Coffee Festival. Amidst the bustling atmosphere and the captivating aroma of freshly brewed coffee, the event highlighted the latest trends and innovations shaping the coffee industry today.

A Melting Pot of Coffee Culture

The World of Coffee Festival served as a melting pot of coffee culture, where attendees immersed themselves in everything from artisanal brews to cutting-edge coffee technology. At the heart of the festivities was Espresso Warehouse, our sister company, playing a prominent role in the event. Their booth buzzed with excitement as they showcased collaborations with Suki Tea and FORLIFE, offering amazing prizes for competitions and freebies from our exceptional brands.

Unveiling the New Espresso Warehouse Logo

One of the standout moments of the festival was the unveiling of Espresso Warehouse’s new logo. Our talented design team at Matthew Algie crafted a vibrant and fresh look that captures the evolving identity of our brand within the coffee community. The bold colours and modern font reflect our commitment to innovation and quality.

The Thrill of the Moccamaster Competition

A standout event at the festival was our Moccamaster competition. At our stall, the coveted machine was secured by a lock, with only one key among hundreds capable of opening it. This thrilling challenge drew coffee enthusiasts and professionals from across the show to our booth, all eager to try their luck at winning a Moccamaster. The competition was a resounding success, and we had two well-deserving victors!

Beyond Products

The World of Coffee Festival was more than just a showcase of products; it was a platform for connections and inspiration. Coffee lovers and industry professionals came together to share ideas, form new partnerships, and explore the trends shaping the future of coffee. Each year, baristas and designers push the boundaries of what’s possible, creating and enhancing devices to achieve that perfect brew. These passionate innovators continue to redefine our understanding of quality coffee.

Coffee Innovations

At the World of Coffee Festival, while the thrilling World Roasting and Latte Art Championships drew significant attention, another highlight was the competition showcasing the best products of 2024. Here’s a look at the innovative winners across various categories:

  • People’s Choice: Squeaky – The King Eddy (Electric)
  • Commercial Coffee Preparations & Serving Equipment: Bellwether Coffee – Bellwether Shop Roaster
  • Consumer Coffee Preparation & Serving Equipment: Fellow – Aiden Precision Coffee Maker
  • Coffee Accessories: Hauck Tamper – Vibra Tamper

These standout products from the World of Coffee Festival 2024 showcase the innovation driving the coffee industry forward.

The Heartbeat of the Festival: Roasters Village

The heartbeat of any coffee festival is the area dedicated to independent coffee roasters and cafés. At the World of Coffee, this vibrant area was known as the “Roasters Village” What set it apart from other festivals, such as the London Coffee Festival, was the diverse representation of independents from across the globe. From cafés in Dubai to roasters in Colombia, the best in the industry had gathered to showcase their exceptional products. This was an amazing opportunity to observe global trends and innovations in coffee, such as the growing trend of fermentation and innovative drying techniques that enhance flavours.

Tea Takes the Spotlight

While coffee was the star of the show, one individual stood out for his passion for another beloved hot beverage: tea. Oscar, the co-owner of Suki Tea—a product we proudly distribute and a valued partner of Espresso Warehouse—showcased his exceptional tea products at our stall. Together, we captivated onlookers by preparing samples of loose-leaf teas and highlighting the increasingly popular Suki matcha.

Our mission was clear: to demonstrate the value of offering speciality teas alongside speciality coffees in cafés. As Oscar states, “Tea can sometimes be overlooked when the focus is on coffee. Yet, tea has immense potential and quality. Many cafés serve low-quality tea alongside high-quality coffee; however, offering tea that matches your coffee in quality is a great way to broaden your customer base.”

A Festival to Remember

The World of Coffee Festival in Copenhagen was an unforgettable experience, filled with innovation, connection, and a shared passion for quality coffee. At Matthew Algie and Espresso Warehouse, we are proud to be part of such a dynamic industry and look forward to supporting those pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of coffee.
